🏑 Fall Field Hockey 2022 🏑

GYAC is pleased to offer Fall Field Hockey for girls or boys in grades 1st through 6th.  The cost is $75. 

Previously, sessions have run on Sundays from 1:30 pm till 3:00 pm at Brooke Field in Glenside. At this time, we are attempting to find a field that is more conducive to the game of field hockey. Hopefully we will be able to remain at approximately the same day and time. That would mean that the season would begin Sunday, September 11, 2022 and run through Sunday, October 30, 2022. I will update this information as soon as available. 

There will be two divisions of play: Skills and Drills & Fundamentals of Game Play 

Skills and Drills. 🏑
This program is for kids currently in 1st grade through 3rd grade. Athletes will learn the basic fundamentals of field hockey, such as introduction to ball handling, positioning, defense, offense and lots of fun!

 Fundamentals of Game Play 🏑
This program is for kids currently in 4th grade  through 6th grade. Athletes will continue to practice and perfect the fundamentals of field hockey.  They will also be introduced to full field positioning, penalty corners and playing with a goalie.  This is intended to get athletes prepared to play on their school/CYO teams for 7th and 8th grade. 

Participants are responsible for their own equipment. This includes a stick, shin guards, and mouth guards. At this time, eye goggles remain optional. Because we play on grass, it would also be beneficial if your child had cleats but not mandatory.  Finally, following Covid protocols, each participant must have their own water bottle. At this time, we are not required to wear face masks while playing. If you choose to have your child wear one you may do so. As always, this is a fluid situation and we will update you as protocols change.
